Our story…

My name is Ben McCoy, and I am the founder of McCoy health+performance. I founded this company with the goal of helping people improve their quality of life by improving their health. I personally realize how frustrating and limiting living life with pain/injury can be, and this is the reason I got into the health and wellness world. When I was 13 years old I broke my knee in multiple places and was put in a full leg cast, hip to toe, for three months. I was a youth athlete so when I got out of the cast, I went straight back to being an active 13 year old boy without properly rehabbing the injury. The rehab I did do wasn’t very effective because my body wasn’t treated as the whole organism that it is. Instead my knee was spot treated, and this didn’t account for the fact that three months in the cast had caused an imbalance in my pelvis. The imbalance in my pelvis led to scoliosis, which led to a shoulder impingement, which led to neck pain, and on and on. Years went on and I continued to get injured and re-injured. Eventually my injuries ended my hopes of playing college basketball, and thats when I decided to take my rehabilitation in to my own hands. At this point I was 18 years old and nothing I had been told to do was working for me. I started with what I did know about the body and exercise and went from there. I studied all different areas of health in the process and figured out a few key ideas that helped me truly rehab myself. I’m now far stronger, faster, more athletic, coordinated, and pain free than I ever have been. These key ideas or principles are what our training methods are founded on. A few of them are as follows:

  • The body is interconnected- you cannot spot treat an injury

  • Your training stimulus must be greater than the stimulus you expect to encounter in day to day life

  • Mobility is king, it helps prevent injury and reduce pain

  • In order to change the symptoms you’re experiencing you have to change the way you’re living, aka address the root causes
