Circadian Rhythm Reset
Everyone knows that sleep is important, but many people still struggle to get quality sleep. One of the most common reasons for this is a poor circadian rhythm. Your circadian rhythm, simply put, is the natural wake/sleep cycle that your body follows. A number of factors in our modern daily lives can interfere with this natural rhythm. It’s hard to get consistent, quality sleep if you’re tired when you should be awake and awake when you should be tired. Here is a simple way to reset your body’s natural rhythms so that you can get back to that quality sleep you need.
The most simple way to do this is as follows: View the sunrise and the sunset. These times of day come along with certain frequencies of light that trigger a cascade of chemical reactions in our bodies, effectively “tuning” our circadian rhythm to the natural flow of the world around us. Bonus tip: if you travel frequently, this is a great way to short circuit your jet lag.
Lastly, stay off of your electronic devices for at least 2 hours before you go to bed if you can. These devices emit a certain frequency of light, blue light, that will skew your body’s natural rhythms. It will trick your body into thinking that it’s day time and should be awake, making it much harder to fall asleep.
